We are very excited to announce that the IDI Applied Microbiology Services Lab (AMSL) has received university approval to change its name to the IDI Genomics and Microbiology Solutions (IDI-GEMS) lab. This rebranding reflects a broadened scope of activities and support to facilitate interdisciplinary research within the infectious diseases community.
The lab functions as a university earnings operation (fee-for-service unit) and provides services that include microbial genomic, metagenomic, and transcriptomic sequencing, bioinformatics, vector-borne pathogen testing, and environmental pathogen surveillance. The IDI-GEMS partners with the Center of Microbiome Science (CoMS) to offer leading-edge expertise and end-to-end project support for genome-resolved metagenomic research. In addition, IDI-GEMS operates the Bacillus Genetic Stock Center (BGSC) through the IDI’s partnership with the Department of Microbiology.
The IDI-GEMS lab has moved!! The new location is in 113 Goss Laboratory, 1925 Coffey Road, on the campus of the College of Veterinary Medicine. (Note: the BGSC will remain in its current location, 556 Biological Sciences Building, 484 W 12th Avenue). The newly renovated space is ideal for proximity to the Colleges of Veterinary Medicine and Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences while also being just a short distance from units on the east side of campus (Wexner Medical Center, Department of Microbiology, etc.). We wish to thank the College of Arts and Science for use of the space in the Biological Sciences Building and the College of Veterinary Medicine for providing space for the new IDI-GEMS lab.
