The IDI is pleased to welcome Zelalem Mekuria, DVM, PhD, to the IDI team to serve in a part-time (.3 FTE) role. Dr. Mekuria is a research assistant professor in the Department of Veterinary Preventive Medicine, College of Veterinary Medicine, and serves as the associate director of laboratory services for the Global One Health initiative (GOHi). He is also serving on the editorial board of the Journal of Microbial Ecology. In his IDI role, Dr. Mekuria will provide scientific/technical support to the IDI Genomics and Microbiology Services Lab (IDI-GEMS) and will serve as a key member of the IDI research strategy development team led by Dr. Vanessa Varaljay, IDI chief research officer.
