Building collaborative excellence in infectious diseases research and innovation.
Goals
- Inspire a culture of interdisciplinary research, innovation, and knowledge capabilities in infectious diseases with an emphasis on team science and large-scale research funding competitiveness
- Strengthen interdisciplinary research networks and key partnerships
Tactics
- Develop Comprehensive Positioning Strategies: Collaborate with IDI associates and thematic program directors to secure strategic, diverse funding opportunities, including non-traditional sources (e.g., Department of Defense, industry)
- Enhance the IDI Genomics and Microbiology Services Lab (IDI-GEMS): Continue to develop and support IDI-GEMS as a research incubator
- Expand Networking and Funding Opportunities: Design mechanisms to facilitate expanded networking opportunities and increase external research funding for the IDI research community
- Engage Diverse Disciplines: Expand engagement with faculty and research communities in disciplines not traditionally well-represented in infectious disease research
