Dr. Vanessa Varaljay, chief research officer, Infectious Diseases Institute, led a roundtable entitled, “One health and pathogen emergence: Understanding the movement between environment, animals, & humans”, and Dr. Debra Goff, professor, Pharmacy Practice, College of Pharmacy, led a panel entitled, “Patient-centric approaches in the AMR drug pipeline” for the World Antimicrobial Resistance Congresscollocated with the Disease Prevention & Control Summit held September 5-6, 2024, in Philadelphia, PA. The World Antimicrobial Resistance Congress is a global conference where stakeholders in the AMR field come together to share ideas and develop initiatives to address antimicrobial resistance. Dr. Goff was also one of 30 individuals selected as a global health expert in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by the American Society of Microbiology (ASM) to attend the Pathways to Progress Against Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) strategy meeting in Washington, D.C. The strategy meeting was in preparation for the High-Level meeting of the United Nations General Assembly dedicated to AMR. Dr. Goff participated in the policy conference for One Health and the Congressional briefing with several White House members.
