Dr. Jonathan Jacobs Nominated to Sit on French Scientific Commission

Dr. Jonathan Jacobs, associate professor, Department of Plant Pathology, College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, and IDI Discovery Theme faculty member was nominated by the French government to serve as a member of the Sectoral Scientific Commission 2, “Biological and Medical Sciences”, to set up their research vision and strategy around health and agriculture for the French National Institute for Research and Development (IRD). Dr. Jacobs will serve a four-year term in this new role.

The IRD is an internationally recognized, multidisciplinary organization working mainly in partnership with countries in the global south and French overseas territories. As a contributor to the achievement of the international development agenda, the IRD aligns its priorities with the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) adopted by the United Nations to steer development policies.
