Having spent my first month listening, learning, and immersing myself in the daily work of the Infectious Diseases Institute, my initial enthusiasm for joining this team has only grown stronger. Over these past 30 days, I have seen firsthand the remarkable strength of the foundation built under our previous director’s leadership, as well as the exceptional dedication that defines our institute.
With this solid groundwork beneath us, we are ready to write the next chapter of IDI’s story. Together, we have an opportunity to expand our interdisciplinary research capabilities, train the next generation of scientists and infectious disease leaders, elevate our visibility, and firmly establish IDI as the premier institute for infectious diseases in the Midwest and a recognized national and global leader in the field.
Achieving this bold vision requires the collective strength, creativity, and commitment of our entire team. Every discovery in the lab, every clinical insight, every successful partnership, and every operational improvement, contributes directly to our shared momentum. I am deeply committed to supporting a culture where every team member is empowered to contribute, collaborate, and thrive.
To further advance IDI’s interdisciplinary and One Health mission, I am pleased to announce the appointment of three new IDI associate directors who will help strengthen our impact across research, training, and engagement, as well as strategic liaisons and facilities. I invite you to learn more about these accomplished leaders in the link below and the important roles they will play in helping shape the future of infectious diseases research and education at Ohio State.
Thank you for the warm welcome during my first month. I am energized by what I have seen so far, and I am even more inspired by what we will accomplish together as we advance our mission and amplify IDI’s impact.
