Developing new vaccines and immunotherapeutics requires expertise across many areas of infectious disease research. Understanding pathogens, host immune responses and potential therapeutic targets requires researchers to work across disciplines and use a wide range of approaches, from studies of natural host cells and organs and animal models to vaccine platforms and innate and adaptive immune responses.
The Vaccines and Immunotherapeutics Initiative brings together researchers across Ohio State to connect this expertise and expand opportunities for collaboration. By linking researchers with university-wide centers, shared resources and specialized services, the initiative supports the development and improvement of vaccines, antivirals, antibiotics, antifungals and antiparasitic agents while strengthening opportunities for interdisciplinary research and funding.
