Next-Generation Sequencing and Related Service Offerings and Fees

The Infectious Diseases Institute FY26 (second half) Genomics and Microbiology Solutions Lab (IDI‐GEMS) Next-Generation Sequencing and associated services offerings and fee schedule.

IDI-GEMS Next-Generation Sequencing and Related Service Notes: 

  • IDI-GEMS uses Illumina NextSeq 2000 sequencing instruments.
  • Unless otherwise requested, all sequencing runs will utilize P3 Cartridges. Order turn-around time will vary and is dependent on P3 cartridge fill.
  • Per-sample prices are calculated based on the number of reads per sample of your project and the respective percentage of cartridge use. See the IDI-GEMS Fee Calculation Guide for an explanation of sequencing fee calculations.
  • University policy does not permit billing in advance of the service. IDI-GEMS will bill upon the completion of the service. There are no exceptions.
  • Sequencing can be expedited by purchasing an entire cartridge (P1, P2, or P3) for sequencing your samples only.
  • The IDI-GEMS team can provide customized services/tests to meet your project needs. Prices for customized services/tests are devloped on a case-by-case basis and the full-costing pricing method is used.
  • IDI-GEMS quotes are valid for 30 days from the date of the quote. Quotes can be requested for grant budget proposals; however, prices are subject to change (i.e., increase) from the date of the quote and grant award should the grant be awarded.
  • IDI-GEMS will honor the price reflected on a purchase order if issued within the 30-days from the date of the quote.

The IDI-GEMS team works with clients to meet their specific project needs. In certain situations, the project needs do not align with the IDI-GEMS standard service/testing offerings. In those cases, IDI-GEMS will develop a custom quote using the full-costing pricing method in accordance with university policy.

Note that 16S and Nanopore sequencing are custom services and prices are based on per-project basis taking into consider sample size and number of reads and any specific, unique factors related to clients projects.
