The Infectious Diseases Institute Trainee Association (IDI-TA) held its inaugural Trainee Day in the Gabbe Room of The James Cancer Hospital and Solove Research Institute on Tuesday, April 26, 2022.

Following an introduction by IDI-TA President Erin Boulanger, the day began with a presentation by Elizabeth Whetstone, winner of the 2022 IDI Trainee Association Denman Poster Award.

We heard from graduate students Sochina Ranjit and Tsian Zhang, professional student Aliyah Bennett, postdoctoral scholar Loic Deblais, PhD, and research scientist Laura Schwartz, PhD.

Concluding the day, afternoon Keynote Speaker Andew Pekosz, PhD, spoke on his lab’s research on influenza and COVID-19, before wrapping up with sage advice for trainees and mentors alike.
